Nature’s Dragons started in 2014 when our founder decided to join another scouting organization. Over the years, scouting families have come and gone, and our group continues to thrive for one main reason: because we allow our scouts the space to be themselves. The decision to form our own organization stemmed from discussion among the scouts and parents who wanted more of a voice in shaping the program.
Respecting the needs and challenges of neurodivergent kids doesn’t have be difficult. It’s as simple as accepting that some people need a different structure or approach to succeed. All kids should have the same opportunities to discovery exciting activities and events that are both educational and unforgettable, as well as forge bonds with their peers.
Our passion for and dedication to an inclusive space for all scouts stems from growing up in a time where our own quirks or neurodivergence wasn’t fully understood or accepted. Now that we have kids of our own, providing a welcoming scouting environment for them is incredibly fulfilling. Nature’s Dragons program offers all scouts:
- Outdoor adventures
- Hands-on learning
- Development of life skills
- An opportunity to build positive memories
Together, we explore nature, shared and individual interests, and have fun!
